Increase of fashion market in India Monday, October 12th, 2009

The fashion market used to dominate by the European and US markets. Indian market used to be very less for the reputed brands. Main reason for this was the low earning power of people in India. They used to prefer low cost but low quality garments rather than expensive quality products.

This made life miserable for branded products. Branded companies were going the other way, which was high quality at higher price. But with the recent improvements in the economy and living standards of Indian people, things have changed. There are more middle class people in India than ever before. It has made a huge market for branded products in the country.

World popular brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Boss and Lois Vuitton has opened there outlets all over India to trap this potential market. There are much more luxury consumers in India now.

TSG international has already introduced many of their brands to the Indian market forecasting big sales margins in the future. Alberta Ferretti and Jean-Paul Guiltier are few of the brands they launched.

There is one important thing to consider when entering the Indian market. It is the Indian culture. No matter how rich they are, they need something with Indian flavor. That is a very basic requirement in Indian society.

Most of the companies are ready to make this adjustment to their products because of the huge potential behind it. They are trying to start manufacturing plants in India itself to cater the needs.

Today, the count has been reduced to just 10. The reason behind is for creating opportunities for young and lesser-known talents, whom, the haute couture club shall call the guest designers. However, the only dilemma that stays present is: In this world where lifestyle has changed rapidly over the past few years, how many shall wait for a considerable period before wearing a chosen dress? Besides, they shall not be from names that are already big in the market.

But on the other hand, the new designers, given a chance to practice their art, shall likely bring forth a fresh breeze that may redefine the future trends and (more…)
